In December 2017 Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar visited a state-funded, community-operated 15 kWp power plant (PLTS) in Tungkup Village of East Belitung. Arcandra stated that interconnection of PLTS to PLN’s low voltage grid is a sound solution to the current challenge of potential underutilization of state’s asset in locations where PLN starts expanding its network.
As follow-up to the visit, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held in Bangka on 3 April by Renewable Energy and Electrification Programme (REEP) and Energising Development (EnDev) with the aim to identify potential issues and develop a work plan in interconnecting the isolated, small-scale RE plant to PLN’s grid.
One of the FGD results concluded that management and technical trainings are needed for PLTS operators and Village-owned Enterprise (BUMDes) officers to increase community’s ability in managing PLTS’ business administration and ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the system.
Attending the FGD were the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, PLN of Bangka Belitung (BaBel), Nyuruk Village officers, Bina Karya Nyuruk BUMDes, BaBel’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Provincial Agency and East Belitung Regency Administrative.
